  • As Chief of Operations Division, directs, plans, schedules, coordinates, and reviews programs or the operation and maintenance of civil works projects within Kansas City District.
  • Serve as principal operations and maintenance technical and program advisor to the supervisor who is kept informed of progress on controversial or other matters of major importance.
  • Responsibility encompasses dams, flood control reservoirs, navigation, hydroelectric power plants, local enforcement of Section 10 of Rivers and Harbors Act and Section 404 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, and flood fighting activities.
  • Through subordinate supervisors, directs professional engineers, architects, scientists, geologists, engineering technicians, and administrative and clerical staff to accomplish the mission of the Kansas City District.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG).

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS-15 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service which includes directing aspects of program planning, resourcing, policy guidance and execution of engineering programs; AND formulating solutions to complex design and engineering issues. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
