This National Guard position is for aGS-0083-08 POLICE OFFICER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2156000 in FAC 43CP08 and is part of the MO 139th Airlift Wing.

WHO MAY APPLY: All qualified Missouri traditional guard members and those eligible for enlistment, appointment or transfer into the Missouri Air National Guard.
Presents repetitive courses or designated blocks of longer courses.
Presents training material and instruction covering proper use of handguns, rifles, machine guns and other base defense/ground combat skills equipment, in accordance with approved lesson plans and course control documents.
Makes adjustments in presentation or other instructional methods to resolve common classroom problems, to include those of student motivation and communication.
Makes adjustments in last minute agenda schedule or student changes, student problems, equipment malfunctions, or lack of supplies.
Uses training aids and devices in addition to those listed in the POI in a manner that enhances training outcome.
Maintains accountability and ensures security for weapons/ammunition/explosives utilized in the course of instruction in accordance with applicable Air Force Instructions.
Trains employees in assigned duties and responsibilities, and assigns work, establishes priorities, and ensures technical quality of work products.
Manages and oversees the installation ground weapons training and maintenance program.
Serves as an instructor and inspects ground weapons.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the installation?s ground weapons training and maintenance program, incorporating safety requirements, and maintains adherence to safety regulations.
Promptly evaluates accidents to determine cause and ensure safety guidelines are followed and necessary precautions are taken to prevent further occurrences.
Monitors the environment for noise hazards, health problems, and other safety hazards.
Directs and monitors security/resources protection program and procedures.
Monitors explosive safety and munitions movement?s safety procedures.
Oversees and assists with the maintenance and inspection of ground weapons assigned to the installation or covered by host tenant support agreements.
Performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within a military installation.
Performs day-to-day duties associated with law enforcement and security.
Detains, pursues or directs detaining person(s) who attempt to flee crime scenes, an active shooter, or other means of resisting arrest.
Under a temporary appointment, the employment is subject to termination at any time.
This position can be filled up to four years as long as funds are available to support it.
In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the temporary appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.

These are Excepted Service positions that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Missouri National Guard prior to the effective date of placement.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.
Advanced in hire rate may be granted to set pay above the minimum rate of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualifications relevant to the positions' requirement and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission.
Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: ENLISTED Since the position is temporary in nature, the compatibility requirements will be waived for a period of time not to exceed one year. Selecting official must verify that selected individual is currently assigned to a military unit in the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not create grade inversion.
Title 32 National Guard employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: As a National Guard Title 32 Dual Status applicant, must possess a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade of this position.
GS-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least 6 months of specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to conduct formal combat arms training and maintenance activities for a Security Forces function, control and operate firing ranges; inspect, repair, and maintain ground weapons; enforce law, maintain law and order, preserve the peace, and protect life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of the military installation; and oversee the work activities of individuals assigned to a Security Forces Combat Arms function. The specialized experience must also demonstrate skill in securing crime and incident scenes; apprehending and detaining suspects; searching persons and property; and collecting, seizing, and preserving evidence; and conducting interviews of witnesses and suspects and obtains statements and testifies in official judicial proceedings; responding to disaster and relief operations and participating in contingencies. Knowledgeable in developing plans, policies, procedures, and detailed instructions to implement security force programs. Is competent and experienced in maintaining accountability and ensuring security for weapons, ammunition, and explosives utilized in the course of instruction in accordance with applicable Air Force Instructions. Experienced in implementing ground weapons training programs. Experienced in the control and safeguarding of arms, ammunition, and equipment; and, instructs ground weapons qualification training. LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT:This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
