Help
  • Serves as the recognized technical expert and as the senior staff level structural engineer.
  • Provides structural engineering expertise and guidance to Districts and others in the Division.
  • Provides higher headquarters policy interpretation and establishes regional policy for application by the subordinate Districts.
  • Provides authoritative guidance and quality assurance review of District output.
  • As technical specialist, responsible for quality assurance of structural engineering features of various planning, design, and construction documents.
  • Serves as a CENWD Dam Safety Committee Member and on the evaluation team.
  • Serves as the CENWD Bridge Safety Program Manager.
  • Performs quality assurance reviews of inspection reports for bridge safety deficiencies and ensures that they conform to parameters and regulations.
  • Provides technical support to assure seismic evaluations are performed in a proper and uniform fashion for buildings and civil works structures.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Selective Placement Factor: This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to and for continued employment. This position requires a current, active, and valid registration as an Engineer in a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States.

Specialized Experience: To qualify, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing seismic analysis, evaluation, and design on structural features. Specialized experience also includes inspections, evaluations, design, maintenance, or construction of bridges, Hydraulic Steel Structures (HSS), and other civil works structures.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

  • About the Position: In this position, you will serve as the structural subject matter expert with the responsibility in various programs which include Military Construction (MILCON), Civil Works, and Interagency and International Services (IIS) programs.
    Programs within civil works cover buildings, dams, hydraulic structures, and appurtenances. Hydraulic structures and appurtenances include navigation locks, spillways, stilling basins, outlet works, gates and hoists, control towers, power intake structures, tunnels, conduits, reservoirs, channels, and levees. Other items include harbor protection structures, water control and conveyance systems, highway and railway bridges, flood control channels and drainage structures, harbor and wharf structures, flood and retaining walls, pumping stations, project buildings, and recreation facilities. Military facilities include hospitals, other medical facilities, dependent schools, family housing, and other buildings.
