Duties

Help
  • Finalize official survey records for publication using AutoCad, CAPD, Microsoft Word
  • Prepare distribution letters and Federal Register Notices.
  • Create supplemental plats under the direction of the lead land surveyor
  • Maintain digital survey records
  • Assist land status technicians when necessary

At the GS-07 Level:You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: including experience using AutoCad and related geodetic computation software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access; good organizational skills

Graduate education only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.

At the GS-08 Level: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: including Understanding of Federal surveys, must be able read and interpret land descriptions, must have working knowledge of AutoCad and Microsoft Word.

At the GS-09 Level: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: including Knowledge and skills in applying the full range of cartographic principles and concepts of digital data collection and instrumentation, map content, map accuracy standards, geographic, state grid, Universal Transverse Mercator and native latitude and longitude coordinate systems. Knowledge of the nomenclature, structure, and function of the Public Land Survey system.

Education

Graduate education only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
