The incumbent coordinates and carries out specific assignments to gather, evaluate, and disseminate dairy information for selected milk and dairy products as well as special projects related to dairy marketing information.
Summary
The incumbent serves as a senior Dairy Market News Reporter responsible for performing a variety of duties related to promoting the efficient marketing of milk and dairy products. The incumbent coordinates and carries out specific assignments to gather, evaluate, and disseminate dairy information for selected milk and dairy products as well as special projects related to dairy marketing information.
Reviews and implements both long-term and short-term goals for all areas of the program including the policy and procedures.
Continually evaluates and notifies supervisor of any issues arising in both long-term and short-term goals involving day-to-day operations.
Responsible for providing technical guidance and developing trainee Dairy Market Reporters by conducting a variety of coaching and skills-development activities.
Assists Deputy Director and Branch Chief in monitoring, maintaining and developing Market News related databases and Dairy Market News online access points and offerings.
Attends meetings with dairy industry groups, dairy farmer organizations, Department and other government officials concerning the dairy industry.

Qualifications

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
Carrying out day to day operations by applying accepted policies and procedures involving Dairy Market News' best practices to dairy market reporting.
Collaborating with supervisor to review and recommend improvements to policies and procedures involving best practices for market news reporting.
Contacting dairy industry representatives to discover and report current market information on milk and dairy products, including demand, supply, prices, and inventory levels.
Develops and maintains educational and institutional knowledge and materials on dairy market information, methods, and practices.
Ability to lead and liaison with IT for a variety of Dairy Market News IT issues and recommends improvements.
