Duties

PURPOSE OF POSITION AND ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION:
The primary purpose of this position is: to provide programming and base development technical engineering support including construction representative responsibility for performing the more difficult and complex tasks for new construction, renovations; and improvement projects of real property facilities including utility systems at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan.
The organizational location of this position is: 127th Civil Engineering Squadron (127CES), Engineering Flight (CEN), Selfridge ANG Base MI

DUTY 1: Evaluates and recommends for approval clients' requests for new construction, renovation, and improvements of real property facilities including utility systems.

DUTY 2: Coordinates projects with engineers in a variety of disciplines and/or with architects.

DUTY 3: Monitors and controls major segments of a variety of difficult and complex project plans and specifications.

DUTY 4: Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) with the responsibility of the oversight of related contracts and contractors' performance.

DUTY 5: Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering/architectural authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed facility programs/projects.

Qualifications

This is a Temporary Indefinite vacancy for an appointment of [ 4 YRS ]. The hiring agency has the option to extend this appointment up to a maximum total of 4 years. In the event a permanent employee is accepted for this indefinite position, there will be a change in his/her tenure from permanent to indefinite.

Specialized Experience:

Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:

  • Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.
  • Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
