Duties

Help
  • Complete in-house design work for small infrastructure projects to be accomplished by construction contractors.
  • Assign projects, monitors progress, tracks costs, and performs on-site inspections.
  • Apply practical knowledge of engineering principles in assessing specific requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports that document and explain sometimes complex, technical issues.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles and must possess and maintain installation driving privileges.

Qualifications

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is under the Acquisition Demonstration Project. The NJ-03 broadband incorporates former (GS equivalents) GS-09 step 1 through GS-11 step 10 grade levels and salary levels. Pay increase within the band will be accomplished through the Contribution-based Compensation and Appraisal System (CCAS). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Experience required for NJ-03 level: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must identify that you possess 1 year of which was equivalent to at least NJ-02. Specialized experience is defined as Developing preliminary statements of work, designs, and cost estimates; Recommends appropriate courses of action for design considerations of infrastructure projects; Prepare drawings and details of proposed projects using required software; Research various regulatory and code requirements to assist in the decision-making process; and Coordinate and deconflict construction activities.
