Summary

This position is located U.S. Agency for Global Media, Voice of America Programming Directorate, Eurasia Division, Russian Service. The incumbent serves as a supervisory team leader, editor, and producer in the VOA's Russian Language Service and is responsible for assigning, conceiving, and coordinating/directing the development and production of multimedia content across broadcast and digital platforms, including desktop, mobile and social media properties.

Help

As a Supervisory Managing Editor (Russian), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:

  • Plans and formulates short-term and long-term production and publishing of VOA branded content across digital platforms with the Service and Division management, and subordinate team members to assure that digital content, formats and individual segments exemplify the highest professional digital journalism standards.
  • Directs team members to fulfill Service's objectives, giving staff concrete steps on every task and assuring completion.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Possesses deep knowledge of the target region, as well as the global context surrounding Russia and the region, particularly U.S. policy.

Qualifications

Screen out factor: Applicant must have fluency in both English and Russian languages that enables you to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages. This language screen out factor MUST be listed in your resume to receive consideration.

Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GG-12 or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

  • Managing activities of a professional staff supporting digital and social media and/or print media and/or broadcast media;
  • Assessing, evaluating, or monitoring programs to ensure particular interest to the target audience;
  • Leading/managing a diverse staff/team of content producers and journalists in the U.S. and abroad producing multimedia content;
  • Knowledge of Russian history, economics, culture, and socio-political development.

Education

Education is not required for this grade level. It cannot be used for qualification purposes.
