Duties

Help
  • Drafts, primarily utilizing Revit and AutoCAD, preliminary and final design drawings incident to own design work, supporting engineer's work, and as assigned.
  • Develops original 2D and 3D models, plans, layouts, details, sections, calculations, design analyses and specifications for conventional and advanced electrical engineering features of design work accomplished in-house.
  • Interprets, adapts and applies numerous guidelines, client criteria, precedents, and engineering methods, techniques and practices to determine most feasible design or possible alternative solutions.
  • Compiles and transcribes tables, maps, charts and drawings, exhibits or briefings.
  • Transfers ideas of engineers for proposed and planned projects into technically accurate models, plans, diagrams, layouts, and detailed drawings. Performs model interference and coordination checks.
  • Assures that all corrections and changes are incorporated into final plans, coordinating with other technical personnel as necessary.
  • Reviews studies and preliminary, pre-final and final design plans and specifications of work prepared in-house and by Architect-Engineers to assure compliance with modeling and drafting related criteria.

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: drafting original 2D and 3D models and drawings for construction primarily utilizing Revit and AutoCAD. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education:
One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)


Specialized Experience GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes: drafting original 2D and 3D models and drawings for construction primarily utilizing Revit and AutoCAD; transferring ideas of engineers for proposed and planned projects into technically accurate working plans, diagrams, layouts, and detailed drawings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position.

Two full years of graduate level education (i.e., 36 semester hours) in a field directly related to the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes: drafting original 2D and 3D models and drawings for construction primarily utilizing Revit and AutoCAD; transferring ideas of engineers for proposed and planned projects into technically accurate working plans, diagrams, layouts, and detailed drawings; reviewing design plans and specifications to assure compliance with modeling and drafting related criteria; developing original layouts, details, sections and calculations for electrical engineering features of work; executing minor electrical engineering projects independently. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-10 and GS-11, you must meet the qualification requirements using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

This is a developmental position. The duties of this position lead to the full performance level of GS-0802-11. Incumbent may be appointed to either GS-07, GS-08, GS-09, GS-10 or GS-11 (depending on qualifications). If selected at a grade below GS-11, the incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the target level of the position upon: meeting all regulatory requirements; certification by the supervisor of successful performance; completion of all training requirements; and the availability of work at the next higher grade level. Promotion is not automatic.
