As a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) - TITLE 32, GS-2210-12, you will be responsible for ensuring the correct configuration of network devices. Develop methods and procedures to optimize network performance. Research, test, and evaluate software packages which provide performance measurements of the WAN. Develop standard configuration software loads for all network devices. Develop benchmarks and performance measurements to manage network servers and data communication devices. Work with technical support personnel in resolving critical problems. Document how user data is stored and protected on network storage devices. Coordinate appropriate action to ensure backup processes are completed. Determine the use of network devices such as servers, workstations, peripheral devices, and remote access systems. Implement configuration management plans for complex LANs and WANs. Oversee the distribution of applications and upgrades ensuring compliance with regulations and copyright laws. Instruct lower graded IT specialists in administration and maintenance of the installation's network devices. Establish network trust relationships. Prepare briefings and presentations on the complexities of the installation network. Direct the analysis of equipment and software reliability and utilization reports to identify and define problem areas and to establish end-to-end systems performance levels. Write policy and plans for the installation continuity of operations plan (COOP). Serve as network administrator responsible for configuring hubs, and switches, monitoring network performance, performing network diagnostics, analyzing network traffic patterns; and installing network software fixes and upgrades. Perform other duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Wear of the military uniform.
Position may require a pre-employment physical.
May be subject to furlough actions.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Must maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus.
Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.
This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M.
Must maintain Security+ Certification.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
Must have Security+ Certification.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 36 months experience that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
