As a UAS SUPERVISOR, GS-2101-12, you will serve as both a unit supervisor for a TUAS Unit and as directed, serves as a director for the Safety and Standardization programs within the unit. The incumbent serves as a first line supervisor for a 22-person UAS unit, which is comprised primarily of aircraft operators, payload operators, instructors of the aircraft and payload operators, and UAS repairers. The unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operated and maintained within the Unit are those systems where the aircraft relies on the Flight Control System to automatically set the main flight parameters based on navigational information input by the operator. A primary responsibility of the UAS supervisor is to advise the higher-level commander and staff on the assigned Unmanned Aircraft Systems and crew capabilities and limitations. Secondarily, to coordinate the employment of UAS in accordance with the unit's mission, both assigned and implied tasks. The UAS Unit's function, when utilized with other major intelligence gathering systems, is a major contributor to the combined Intelligence Surveillance and Radar (ISR) capability of the unit.

Serves as a leader of UAS unit in a Brigade Combat Team or Special Forces Group. Insures all organic Modified Table of Organization & Equipment (MTOE) equipment is properly maintained and accounted for and all unit members are properly qualified and trained per established standards. Trains to serve in a combat situation to be the Brigade commander's advocate for both active and passive current intelligence on a 24-hour basis, within a specified area of operation on the battlefield. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a unit Standardization, Safety, and Aircrew Training program. Responsible for establishing unit SOPs for all unit operations, both garrison and field operations. Responsible for the overall health and welfare of members of the unit.

Performs a full range of first level supervisory duties: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the UAS unit, ensuring that the unit complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and UAS unit objectives. Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies applicable guidelines, policies, and regulations. Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of UAS missions. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Coordinates plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Balances workload and provides advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of UAS and administrative issues. Structures assignments to create effective and economical positions. Coordinates with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Reviews organization mission, functions, and manning. Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives. Provides advice to supervisor of significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment. Establishes metrics and analysis systems to ensure actions are timely and reviewed at critical points. Accepts, amends, or rejects work presented by subordinates. Performs self-inspection and presents detailed and comprehensive report with any corrective action taken to supervisor. Follows-up to ensure complete and quality resolution of discrepancies. Assesses and revises policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work.

Represents the unit in meetings with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with members of these organizations. Meets with key customer and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explains organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise. P

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training arranging or procuring transportation for personnel, cargo or freight. Experience in non-routine pre and post auditing of freight bills, bills of lading, and personnel transportation vouchers. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. *For positions requiring supervisory functions; experience which included responsibility for the supervision and management of personnel. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
