a. INTRODUCTION: This position is located in an (F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35 and A-10) Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Aircraft Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Weapons Element. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated non-supervisory work. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic, WG-6652-11.

b. DUTIES:

(1) Planning. Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
(2) Work Direction. Assigns tasks to be performed.
(3) Administration. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
(4) Performs the non-supervisory work of the function as needed.
(5) Implements safety regulatory requirements.
(6) Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
(7) Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E7 - E8

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: - Experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment. Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications ((JOURNEYMAN)) - In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
