Duties

Help

If you are selected for this position, you will perform the following duties:
  • Maintain inventory control records in an automated system for support and maintenance programs.
  • Provide data and information for periodic reports on expenditures, expired items, and stock balances.
  • Prepare recommendations and directives for procurement.
  • Prepare and maintain stock control records.
  • Monitors transactions to assure ordering/receiving accuracy.
If you are selected at the GS-07 level, you will essentially perform the same duties as those at the full performance level described above, however, duties are less complex and will be performed under closer supervisor with more detailed guidance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for an Inventory Management Specialist, GS-2010 at the GS-7 level, you must have:

A. Completed one full year of graduate level education; OR

B. 1 of the following requirements for superior academic achievement based on a) graduating within the upper third of the graduating class in a college, university, or major subdivision such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; b) having a grade point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR c) being elected for membership in a national scholastic honor society; OR

C. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participating in the supply inventory process and conducting investigations to determine the cause of inventory discrepancies by checking property records; compiling information related to the loss, damage, or destruction of property; and creating and maintaining property records; OR

D. Have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

In order to qualify for an Inventory Management Specialist, GS-2010 at the GS-09 level, you must have:

A. Completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR

B. 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing supply management and control for activities involving specialized supplies and equipment; coordinating physical inventories of property; analyzing property reports to prevent and reduce supply losses; and developing data and information to be used in inventory reports; OR

C. A combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
