As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-2610-13, you will inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify software controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, ECM Pods, peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. The stations are used to repair and maintain all avionics line-replaceable units (LRUs) and Pods.

1. On a day-to-day basis, analyze performance, tests, inspects, troubleshoots, identifies and isolates malfunctions, disassembles, modifies or repairs and reassembles test stations or ECM Pods and their associated peripherals. Considers the complex interrelated variables arising from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Analyzes malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Diagnoses circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Isolates problems to the failing part using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts and other special and standard tools and test equipment. Removes and replaces components, assemblies, subassemblies, or parts using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments.

2. May modify and updates avionics Pods, support equipment and support software according to applicable technical publications. Analyzes program data and determines if the criteria is sufficient to provide adequate testing and troubleshooting. Examines recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies to determine testing voids and initiates corrective action by submission of quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports or proposed modifications. Devises repair procedures based on findings and recommends program changes, procedural changes, or data corrections to correct software deficiencies. Recommends revisions to intermediate maintenance directives.

3. Connects associated testing equipment to interface the test station system to the aircraft system and or Pod to facilitate maintenance/repair of POD or line replaceable units (LRUs) from the avionics systems such as radar, fire control, instrument, flight control, inertial navigation, malfunction analysis and recording equipment systems. Determines whether failures are caused by the unit under test (UUT), the Pod, the test station, or the test program. If the malfunction is found to be in the UUT, Pod or the test station, isolates it to the specific component(s), disassembles and effects repair by replacing solid state devices, micro miniature modules, gyros, sensors, transducers, and any other required parts, and assembles after repair is accomplished and performs operational tests. If the malfunction is in the test program, informs engineers and/or Air Force Logistics Command (AFLC) of the problem and serves as subject matter expert in providing practical technical assistance in resolution. Ensures compatibility of items with each other and with extenders and interfaces.

4. Works with engineers and technicians in the development and/or modification of software, interfaces, extender equipment or additional items of test equipment and in validation of technical data concerning the repair, maintenance, and test of the test station and units under test. Initiates technical data changes. Suggests means by which a component or system can be tested more economically or thoroughly and provides practical technical assistance by explaining peculiarities of the program or assemblies of the test station, UUT, interfaces, extenders, test procedures, etc.

5. Provides hands-on training instructions to lower grade personnel concerned with repair of computer controlled automatic test equipment, manually controlled test equipment, line replaceable units and aircraft integrated systems. Also provides on-the-job instruction to newly assigned personnel, regardless of grade level. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), Inspector General (IG) inspections, and Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

Military Grades: E1-E7

For continued ANG Technician employment in any FWS Series 2610 position, the selected dual status technician candidate must obtain and maintain all compatible service specific military skill requirements in certifications, training, and education, and security clearances.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

To initially qualify and prior to appointment:
Applicant's military medical record must indicate a completed and current medical physical, medical profile, a cleared drug test; and, normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.
Must have the capability to lift, carry, push, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 70 pounds.
Must have the physical capability to stand, climb, walk, bend, crouch, reach, and stoop over extended periods of time.
Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles, for the state in which he or she lives or is principally employed, in accordance with Air Force and Air National Guard Vehicle Operations Directives.

As a condition of continued dual status technician employment:
Employee must complete the hazmat certification within six months of employment and complete hazmet recertification every two years.
Employee must maintain the position's mandatory AFSC skill level and continue on-the-job proficiency requirements.
Employee must maintain local network access IAW AFMANs 33-152, User Responsibilities and Guidance for Information Systems and 33-282, Computer Security.
Employee's clearance reinvestigations must be opened prior to the expiration of his or her current investigations.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement, unless otherwise restricted.

MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. The following seven basic qualification factors are applicable to the FWS ANG Dual Status Technician positions:

WG-13 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months of specialized experiences working as an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-12, and possess the craftsman level of knowledge and skills to perform duties such as, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying software controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, electronic circuit maintenance pods, peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. Experiences included the ability and skills to perform on-or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on systems such as, automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems. Experienced in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems. Experiences included completing operational checks, inspections, tests, trouble shooting, removal and replacement of line-replaceable-units which are linked with integrated systems and line-replaceable-units which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems. Must have skilled capabilities of isolating unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automatic test equipment and flight line test systems. Skilled in solving complex problems by analyzing installation, circuitry, and operating characteristics of the systems. Experiences involved adjusting and aligning system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers and other related components. Skilled in the installation of
serviceable components into aircraft and performed total systems alignment and harmonization in accordance with existing technical orders and directives. Experienced and skilled in completing technical order compliances, completing component and system modifications, and performing thorough system checks for correct operations. Skilled in maintaining, modifying, calibrating, and inspecting a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Experienced in performing installations, modifications, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, aligning, and calibrating complete electronic avionics multi-system controls. Must have a thorough working knowledge of complex aircraft avionics or electronic circuit maintenance systems such as, the electronics package in highly automated aircraft where the integrated flight and integrated countermeasures system, electronic multiplex communications bus, inertial navigation system, multi-function displays, head-up display, data transfer equipment, global positioning system, situation awareness data-link, data modem, flight control system, pivot-static system and related instrumentation, flight director instrumentation, central air data computer, engine, hydraulic and fuel quantity indicating systems, voice message warning, various modes of data, intercom, secure voice communications, identification friend or foe, and tactical air navigation system. Experienced in evaluating operational characteristics of the integrated systems by observing and analyzing waveforms, voltage, current, power indications, computer registers and printouts. Skilled in analyzing the malfunctions encountered through fault codes, determining repair sequence process and performing required repairs. Experiences involved reviewing and analyzing maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections. Skilled in performing alignments, adjustments, and conducting final calibrations on integrated systems to determine successful repairs. Experienced in monitoring the operations of complex, inter-related systems, analyzing operating trends, and proposing preventative maintenance down time. Skilled in the applications of technical data and equipment specifications that determine the impact equipment modifications or substitutions on integrated multi-system operations and various maintenance alignment procedures. Competent in using algebraic and trigonometric functions to adapt standard formulas to the specific requirements of the integrated system. Experiences involved the installation, operation, and repair work on prototypes or experimental electronic systems such as, inertial navigation or automatic flight control. Competent in advising aerospace engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed time compliance technical orders' modifications on new or existing equipment.

Additional information

Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasional objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Mechanics are required to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Heavy lifting is accomplished with assistance. Work is primarily performed inside in well lit, heated, and ventilated areas. Occasionally, work may be performed on aircraft in high, restricted or confined places, and in environmental conditions of heat/cold and outside inclement weather. Incumbent is continuously subjected to hazards such as electrical shock, cuts, bruises, high intensity burns caused by electrical, RF energy, soldering irons, and explosive detonation from chaff/flares. Due to the requirement to upload and download chaff/flare dispensers, incumbent is involved in the storage, inspection, handling of explosive devices and works in a high noise and dangerous explosive environment.
