Current and former federal employees with competitive status, reinstatement eligibles, Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) eligibles, Veterans (e.g. VEOA and 30% disabled), and special non-competitive appointment eligibles (e.g., persons with disabilities, certain military spouses, Peace Corps and Vista volunteers, etc.).
Conduct independent studies of accounting and auditing standards and formulate agency positions for senior officials.
Research, analyze, and interpret accounting policy and implementation.
Participate in weekly meetings with the chief accountants of other regulators to discuss joint accounting and auditing topics of mutual interest and to coordinate consistent and uniform consensus positions.
Brief senior management on proposed and final accounting and auditing standards suggesting how the standards will impact credit unions.
Draft or assist in the drafting of regulations with accounting or auditing implications.
Develop and deliver accounting and auditing training materials for examination staff.
Update and maintain accounting and auditing related policy and guidance.
Supervise and manage the daily activities of staff, provide technical and professional gui dance and training to staff members, review and approve work prepared by staff, and develop standardized procedures for the work.
1.Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law;
OR
2.Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in financial institution (credit union or bank) auditing/accounting, or an equivalent combination of financial institution auditing/accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following:
1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) you successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal non-conformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, your education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

SALARY: Pay will be set within the advertised pay range to align with the selectee's skills and experience and the requirements of the position. Pay will be set using NCUA's compensation policy. EXCEPTION: If you are a current non-supervisory NCUA employee and are selected for reassignment into a supervisory position, you may receive up to a 10% salary increase, not to exceed the National Pay Rate (NPR) of the pay grade.
