Major Duties:
EXPERIENCE:
Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-8) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of an Engineering Technician, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes supervising, leading, or performing work involving applying a practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of engineering or architecture and construction, application, properties, operations, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. In addition, you MUST have experience preparing and maintaining engineering-related drawings and plans according to established guidelines, using a variety of computer based techniques, including scanning, hand digitizing, direct file transfer, and use of broad variety of highly specialized drafting software such as Computer-Aided Design/Drafting (CADD),and Geographical Information System (GIS), R.S. Means, graphic programs; providing engineering services associated with job order contracting and construction to include evaluating tenant requirements; to establish scope of work; design criteria; and estimates of design time and costs; providing technical assistance to support contract administration; accomplishing study/design requirements; and preparing/coordinating design packages for renovations, repairs and or alterations.

EDUCATION:
Possess the successfully completed two (2) full years of graduate education or a master's degree or an internship that is directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician position in the field of engineering. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Possess the equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician position in the field of engineering. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials.
