Help

As a Financial Literacy and Outreach Specialist, you will:

  • Assist in the administration, development, and implementation of the NCUA's financial literacy, inclusion, and outreach initiatives.
  • Perform research and data analysis on federal consumer financial protection and compliance laws and regulations to assist with consumer education program development.
  • Develop content for social media, NCUA's consumer website, videos, guides, and other materials to promote financial literacy and capability.
  • Prepare regular status reports and ad hoc reports regarding performance of the NCUA's financial literacy and outreach initiatives, activities, resources and other national or regional consumer trends.
  • Conduct outreach with community-based organizations, government entities, financial institutions, and other regulatory agencies regarding consumer education and financial capability issues.
  • Analyze and respond to inquiries from credit unions and others interested in financial literacy and outreach policies and programs.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is the experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

All applicants applying for the CU-11 level must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-9 level obtained in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:
1. Planning, organizing, and managing consumer education related projects with changing priorities or demands;
2. Conducting research and data analysis on consumer financial protection and compliance laws and regulations to assist with consumer education programming;
3. Creating consumer education content for social media, videos, websites, newsletters, guides, and other materials to promote financial literacy and capability; and,
4. Making recommendations for improvements in financial literacy instructional design or delivery approaches.

Completion of 3 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education.

or

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for successful job performance in the position to be filled.

A combination of qualifying education and specialized experience sufficient to meet 100% of the job requirements.

SALARY: Pay will be set using NCUA's compensation policy. The salary range shown in this announcement is base pay only. Actual salary will be determined upon the location of the selectee and the applicable locality pay, per the NCUA's CU pay table, will be applied. The locality rates, by location, can be found on the NCUA Careers webpage under the NCUA CU Pay Structure.
