Help
  • Perform technical duties related to the operation, development, and maintenance of a SQL-based central processing system.
  • Communicate economic and statistical information in writing and in person to high-level stakeholders internal and external to the agency.
  • Perform analysis of statistical data for accuracy, quality, and consistency, across Divisions/Directorates.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirement:

A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

AND

Specialized Experience:

In addition to meeting the Basic Entry Requirements above, applicants must have the experience listed below.

BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Band III (GS-11-12 Level) To qualify for the band III (GS-11/12 level), you must meet the basic requirements listed above and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-9 level) or band II. Examples of qualifying experience include analyzing and/or manipulating economic statistics; creating data reports and visualizations; maintaining SQL-based central processing systems; writing and debugging computer code; and communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This work must have been conducted using at least two of the following tools: SQL, SAS, Stata, R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.

OR

Education: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Band IV (GS-13/14 Level): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/band (GS-12) equivalent level or band III. Examples of specialized experience includes analyzing and/or manipulating economic statistics and preparing statistical tables and reports; creating data reports and visualizations; developing, operating and maintaining SQL-based central processing systems; writing and debugging computer code; communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; and collaborating with others on joint or team projects. This work must have been conducted using at least two of the following tools: SQL, SAS, Stata, R, Python, Tableau, or Power BI.

Education: Education cannot be substituted at this band/grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
