Duties

Help
  • You will ensure intelligence products convey the correct intent, is arranged logically, presents facts to support conclusions, is in accordance with applicable policy, and is written clearly and interestingly for the intended audience.
  • You will edit and prepare products for publication that depart from standard practice by independently using their experience and judgment.
  • You will facilitate all administrative and security requirements for complex analytic products, including detailed graphics preparation, metadata incorporation, approval routing, and archiving.
  • You will serve as foreign disclosure assistant for the Department, overseeing product compliance with the rules governing release of intelligence products to foreign partners.
  • You will advise the ?Final Release Authority? for published products and work closely with authors during the writing stage.
  • You will verify information using research and consultation with subject matter experts.
  • You will examine the organization, length, and tone of material; edits text for clarity and accuracy; consults on design and graphics; and prepares material for publication via a variety of media.
  • You will manage a portfolio of production management as assigned by the Department/Division/Branch Head.
  • You will utilize personal judgment to make improvements to and standardize analytic production.
  • You will develop training curricula for analysts to improve understanding of the production process and lead to better quality of written products.
  • You will conduct group and individual ad hoc training to address identified needs.
  • You will create resources that assist and improve intelligence writing, analytic tradecraft, and production standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • You will manage and oversee content management of community websites, blogs, and similar media.
  • You will participate in the preparation and presentation of high level briefings.
  • You will participate in interagency meetings and conferences as appropriate.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS Trial Period.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:

  1. Conducting final editing and compilation of complex intelligence products developed by others for publication.
  2. Overseeing product compliance with the rules governing the release of intelligence products to foreign partners.
  3. Manages and oversees content management of community websites, blogs, and similar media.
  4. Creating resources that assist and improve intelligence writing, analytic tradecraft, and production standard operating procedures (SOPs).
