Summary

This position is located in the Office of the Associate Director, Information Security. The incumbent serves as Information Security Specialist, working closely with the OFR Associate Director to ensure that the Technology Center can support the OFR Research and Analysis Center, among others.

Duties

Help

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), you will:

  • Draft policies, procedures, and related standards in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of the Treasury, and other applicable Federal government requirements, guidance, and directives.
  • Develop and maintain artifacts in support of the OFR Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) program. Artifacts include Risk Assessments, System Security Plans, Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M), and Security Assessment Reports, and others, as directed.
  • Conduct reviews to ensure OFR information systems are reviewed and tested annually in accordance with OFR policies and procedures.
  • Support OFR configuration management processes to include the development and management of operating system and application security baselines.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the OR-53 (GS-13 equivalent): You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the OR-52 (GS-12 equivalent) in the Federal service, public or private sectors. Specialized experience for this position is defined as conducting security reviews and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities.

Examples of specialized experience include:

  • Monitor and analyze network traffic, Intrusion Detection Systems, security event logs for Indicators of Compromise and making risk mitigation solutions; OR
  • Leading activities in direct support of enterprise Security Information Event Management (SIEM) system; OR
  • Performing information system security testing and analysis efforts and developing risk mitigation solutions; OR
  • Support Incident Management and Response in accordance with best practices; OR
  • Perform vulnerability scanning, analysis and remediation activities.


In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
