As a Information Technology Specialist (Network Services), you will:
Provide network administration/configuration support; develop, maintain, and monitor the operations of a Infrastructure Operations Center; serve as a technical specialist for the local area and wide area networks within the Department of Agriculture's SCA-IT organization and operations.
Establish and manage vendor agreements; monitor vendor performance under maintenance agreements and other contractual obligations and informally arbitrates with vendors.
Identify proposed system changes, and participate in the review, compliance, and implementation of approved changes to ensure that they have met their objectives; and analyze/determine trends or problems occurring as the result of the proposed or implemented changes.
Participate in or prepare cost benefit analyses as they relate to equipment procurement; develop this data in sufficient detail and required format so that approval of request is facilitated.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Analyzing, defining, and implementing network requirements for a large scale multi-site enterprise level network environment; AND
Administrating and maintaining core network data center infrastructure supporting large scale multi-site enterprise level network environments; AND
Analyzing and resolving problems related to Network services provided; AND
Administering network monitoring and management software; AND
Analyzing operational issues to develop Network policies.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
