Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for litigation support. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Providing customer support services and technical advice to others.
  • Coordinating litigation support services (including trial preparation and presentation) in response to customer needs.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Providing database administration support for various applications.
  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading commonly used hardware and software systems.
  • Managing accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment.
  • Implementing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data.

Qualifications

Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the competencies, a qualified candidate's online application and resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. The specialized experience listed are the minimum requirements for the series, each particular vacancy may have additional experience necessary to meet the applicable grade level. To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must have: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level; a year of graduate-level education related to computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a combination of both specialized experience and education. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; and assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware.
To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must have: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level; a Master's (or equivalent) degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a combination of both specialized experience and education. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; and assisting in network monitoring and management.
To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level; a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a combination of both specialized experience and education. Specialized experience for this grade level is defined as: providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; assisting in network monitoring and management; and assisting in organization-wide account maintenance and software/hardware updates.
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
