Duties below are preformed with assistance at the GS-4 and 5 grade levels, with full performance at the GS-6 and 7 grade levels.
Conducts range studies such as condition and trend, utilization, actual use, climatological and other pertinent studies, while training and monitoring crews carrying out the studies.
Plans and conducts range inventory surveys, selecting appropriate guidelines and techniques to use while reviewing collected data for technical accuracy.
Conducts range use supervision and allotment inspections, conferring with permittees/lessees on general inquiries such as project maintenance and condition.
Independently identifies needed range improvements on allotments, identifying and recommending improvement project types, locations, and methods.
Provides assistance in updating case file and allotment file information, preparing billing and other automated system input documents.

GS-04: You must possess six months of general and six months of specialized experience. General experience is any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position or provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Specialized experience must be at or equivalent to the GS-03 and equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: performing basic work in the conservation, regulation, and use of public or Federally controlled lands for grazing; assisting in conducting range research activities; working in the operation of a livestock ranch.

Physical Demands: The work ranges from sedentary when completing duties in the office to frequent field work requiring a considerable amount of walking, riding, stooping, bending, and lifting.
Work Environment: Office work is performed in adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned offices. Much of the time is spent in the field where exposure to extremes of heat and cold, rough terrain, insects, snakes, and other hazards are common. The incumbent will carefully adhere to all safety procedures to mitigate hazards encountered.
