The Pathways Summer Intern Program provides paid work experiences for students to work in areas such as finance, communications, technology, policy, personnel, and business.

This is a summer 2023 internship position.

These positions are temporary, not to exceed 90 days. This position may be extended or non-competitively converted to a permanent position.

Help

As a Student Trainee (Financial Analyst), you will be selected to work in one of the following offices: Credit Union Resources and Expansion (CURE) or the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). Duties will vary depending on the office.

CURE provides support to low-income, minority, and any credit union seeking assistance with chartering, charter conversions, by-law amendments, field of membership expansion requests and low-income designations. The Office also provides access to online training and resources, grants and loans, and a program for minority institutions. Duties for CURE include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviewing and score CDRLF grant applications.
  • Forwarding emails and phone calls from the office's general email/voicemail box to specialists
  • Completing various reports to assess current trends in grant and loan programs.
  • Proofreading scripts for webinars.
OCFO's responsibilities include accounting, financial reporting, Federal financial reporting, budget, payroll, travel, employee relocation and home purchase program, accounts payable, procurement, and management of the Share Insurance Fund, among other things. Duties for OCFO include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Working with various divisions within OFCO
  • Assisting with writing policy or instruction documents, various internal controls testing, and financial aspects of NCUA's grants program.

  • Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher

Qualifications

To qualify for the NCUA Pathways Summer Intern Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time or accepted as a degree seeking student.
  • Must submit unofficial transcripts showing current enrollment in spring 2023 courses at the time of application. Transcripts must also show continuing education for the following summer 2023 and/or fall 2023 semester
  • Current transcripts much show a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
  • If you are a student veteran, submit the required documentation as described in the Required Documents section.
To be eligible for the Student Trainee (Financial Analyst) position, the degree-seeking program in which you are enrolled must be in or related to one of the following areas: business administration, economics, finance, accounting, or public administration.

You must meet the education and eligibility requirements for this position by the start date. Official transcripts must be obtained prior to start date in order to verify that education requirements have been met.

Education

CU-04: Completion of two years post-high school education (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours).

For Spring 2023 Graduates: You must be accepted into a bachelor's or post bachelor's program by May 2023 to be eligible for the Pathways Summer Intern Program. Proof of that acceptance must be submitted prior to start date.

All education must be accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Additional information

SALARY: The hourly salary range shown is NCUA's National Pay Rate (NPR). Actual hourly salary will be determined upon the location of the selectee and the applicable locality pay.

This position is not eligible for health benefits and life insurance. Students are eligible to earn four hours of annual leave and four hours of sick leave per pay period.

This position is not in the bargaining unit.
