In this position, you will serve as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC). Typical work assignments include:

  • Directly manage information technology projects. Applies knowledge of data, information, processes, organizational interactions, skills, and analytical expertise, as well as systems, networks, and information exchange capabilities to manage acquisition programs.
  • Supervise and execute technical (evaluation of technology) and nontechnical (evaluation of people and operations) risk and vulnerability assessments of relevant technology focus areas.
  • Consult with customers to gather and evaluate functional requirements and translate these requirements into technical solutions. Provide guidance to customers about applicability of information systems to meet business needs.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity plans, strategy, and policy to support and align with organizational cybersecurity initiatives and regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification/Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.GS-14: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level (starting salary $99,908) if you possess information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:

  1. Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in monitoring all phases IT systems security;
  2. Customer Service: Assessing the needs of cybersecurity stakeholders;
  3. Oral Communication: Providing advice to IT stakeholders; and
  4. Problem Solving: Identifying cybersecurity problem areas and recommending solutions to fix problems.
Specialized Experience: In addition to the above requirement you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level performing the following duties:
  • Supervising and executing work that involves security operations (ex. cyberspace, threat reduction, vulnerability reduction, deterrence, internal engagement and etc.);
  • Recommending the appropriate measures to internal and/or external cyber defense technicians to resolve cyber defense incidents;
  • Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments to protect IT infrastructure assets and mitigate network vulnerabilities; and
  • Providing advisory services to leadership to ensure the proper operation of IT systems throughout an organization.
