This position is located with the 162d WG in Tucson, Arizona. The position is established to serve as a working leader over three or more technicians on the evening shift. Base level of work in the function is WG-8268-10.

  • ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 162d WG.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver?s license.
  • This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-6/TSgt- E-7/MSgt

Compatible Military Assignments: AFSC 2A674

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 18 months experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanic repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Ability to troubleshoot, remove, inspect, install, repair, modify, rebuild and test pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems, associated ground support equipment, and related test equip­ment.

2. Knowledge to determine proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts, clearance and tolerances, and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace grounded equipment.

3. Ability to prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, IG and UE inspections, mobility and command support exercises.

4. Ability to advise the supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delay, and overall work operations, problems, and individual performance.

5. Ability to assign work to assure full utilization of personnel and to accomplish same within established time frames and priorities.
