About the position: This position will be assigned to the Roadrunner Inn(formerly Kirtland Inn), Kirtland AFB, NM.

This position will be filled as Regular Part Time employment category. Regular Part Time is guaranteed 20.0 hrs/week and may be eligible for benefits such as Medical/Dental, Group Life, 401(k), and AFNAF Retirement.

Tour of duty for this position may include weekends and holidays. Schedule flexibility of incumbent is highly desired.

Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to supervise directly or through subordinate leaders the work of subordinate custodial workers in the cleaning and maintenance of transient facilities.

  • Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools needed to accomplish the job. Accountable to management for the quantity and quality of work performed and for ensuring efficient and economical work operations. Plans, schedules, and coordinates work operations while adhering to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and work plans established by higher-level supervisors.
  • Assigns, directs, and reviews the work of subordinates. Observes work in progress resolving problems and making adjustments as necessary to meet schedules. Inspects completed work for quantity of work performed.
  • Explains and gains the support of subordinates for management policy, programs, and goals. Hires, promotes, motivates, disciplines, and separates subordinates. Approves or disapproves leave schedules and/or other absences from work. Supports the objectives of AF-wide programs and policies such as labor-management relations and equal employment opportunity. Advises and counsels the subordinates on housekeeping practices are observed.
  • May perform duties of custodial worker. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Requires working in different climates, climbing up and down stairs frequently, bending, stooping, and reaching.
The work involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; running powered scrubbers and buffers; continually standing, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying wastebaskets; frequently pushing carts, weighing more than 100 pounds, loaded with dirty laundry or wastepaper; and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing between 20-50 pounds. Moderately heavy physical effort is required which includes occasionally lifting, moving, and carrying objects weighing over 50 pounds.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a Tier 1 (T1) background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and lift test.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have a valid, current state driver's license, or the ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Qualifying Experience:

  • Experience in supervising the work of subordinate employees in accomplishing custodial work
  • Experience and knowledge must have been gained in a military lodging program or commercial hotel/motel housekeeping
  • Able to follow simple oral and written instructions and speak English
  • Able to use hand or lightweight powered cleaning tools or equipment
  • Physically able to frequently lift and empty wastebaskets, frequently pushing carts weighing more than 100 pounds, loaded with dirty laundry or wastepaper; and occasionally lift and carry items weighing over 50 pounds
  • Able to continuously stand, stoop, and reach for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic computer skills highly desired
  • Ability to work alone or in a group preferred

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
