Help
  • Applies knowledge of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, the Federal Criminal Code and the Criminal Code of DC, Constitutional rights, search and seizure, arrest and other applicable procedures in criminal, civil and administrative actions.
  • Adhere to the Applying Council of the Inspector, General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Quality Standards for Investigations when conducting a variety of criminal, civil, and administrative investigations.
  • Provide testimony in Federal State or local courts.
  • Directs and manages programmatic requirements to meet Dept of Justice Law Enforcement requirements.
  • Conducts and or leads felony criminal investigations of alleged fraud, waste, abuse, and/or mismanagement involving multiple subjects and jurisdiction, investigations primarily focused on contract and procurment fraud.
  • Oversees the preparation of investigative reports, management inquiries, memoranda, etc for use by the appropriate officials in criminal, civil, and/or administrative proceedings.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations, GI -1811-15, you must meet the following requirements:

Applicant must meet the specialized experience or non-federal specialized experience at the next (PG-14) grade level to qualify for this position. Specialized experience at the next lower grade level includes: planning and directing the work of the Inspector General's investigators (1810 and 1811s), planning and directing the work of forensic financial auditors, overseeing, conducting, criminal, civil and administrative investigations providing technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to an Inspector General and administering the agency's investigating program.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement(03/20/2023) to be considered.

Education

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully completed a background investigation for a suitability, Top Secret Security clearance. This review could include financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs. Depending on the type of background investigation required, the security process may take between 6 weeks to 12 months.

The Agency may rescind the tentative offer, if the candidate is unable to obtain an interim clearance.

Schedule A (Disability Appointment):
Documentation of eligibility for employment under Schedule A can be obtained from a licensed medical professional (e.g., a physician or other medical professional certified by a state, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory to practice medicine); a licensed vocational rehabilitation specialist (i.e., state or private); or any Federal agency, state agency, or agency of the District of Columbia or a U.S. territory that issues or provides disability benefits.
