Duties

Help

As an Information Technology Specialist (APPSW), you will:

  • Participate in meetings and has frequent communications with the supervisor and other personnel engaged in IT plans and projects.
  • Serve as POC for resolving technical issues and provide guidance to management in pursuing innovative solutions to website and content management, applications development and database management, and IT infrastructure and security supporting these solutions.
  • Develop procedures and strategies that ensure optimization and integration in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the operating environment.
  • Provide authoritative advice to other specialists in areas such as disaster recovery, capacity planning, applications development, hardware strategy, and operating systems security.
  • Consult with program offices and vendors in defining requirements and identifying integration issues.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the OR-53 (GS-13 equivalent): An applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the OR-52 (GS-12 equivalent) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Successful experience can be gained in the Federal service or its equivalent in state or local government or private sector organizations. Specialized experience for this position is defined as ALL of the following:

  • Developer expertise across ServiceNow platforms to include ITSM, ITBM, ITOM, foundation and integrations; AND
  • Experience creating ServiceNow reports/dashboards for different business needs and integrating third party applications; AND
  • Experience performing ServiceNow portal management, debugging and enhancements; AND
  • Creating systems within ServiceNow for business process automation.

In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
