  • The incumbent serves as a Writer-Editor in the Operations and Policy Section, with the primary responsibility of developing, reviewing, editing correspondence, policy, guidance, talking points, and briefings for delivery by Education leadership.

  • Develops standard templates and accompanying documents to support the ongoing programs and initiatives either led by or supported by the assigned Education Operations and Policy Section
  • Edits information for clarity and accuracy.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: - Develop, write and edit correspondence, policy, guidance and talking points, and briefings for delivery by Education leadership; Advises the supervisor and senior leader on matters relating to educational policy and operations and the impact on the educational mission and school operations; Gathers, develops, coordinates and cross checks the accuracy of information from a wide range of sources in performing work assignments; Tailor speeches and briefings to specific audiences such as: senior defense officials, military commanders, educational organization representatives, members of Congress, community leaders, and association representatives.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12
