Duties

Help
  • As a Lead Office Automation Assistant, you will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Communicate to the team assignments, deadlines and time frames for completion. Review work in progress and upon completion.
  • Enter and retrieve date from various information sources, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports or briefings.
  • Operate a computer, peripheral equipment and appropriate software to perform various computer operations in support of office operations, such as producing reports and maintaining databases.
  • Make necessary corrections in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and format.
  • Consolidate information for various reports in accordance with established procedures and deadlines.
  • Monitors and reports the status of work priorities to Supervisor.
  • Provide periodic team and individual work accomplishments to Supervisor.
  • Maintain correctional treatment files as assigned for inmates.
  • Schedules disposition boards, unscheduled reclassification boards, trusty custody boards, and temporary/emergency home parole boards IAW Department of Defense (DOD) Instruction, Army regulations, and USDB/JRCF regulations, as applicab
  • Coordinate with board members regarding reviews of board packets.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have been convicted of such an offense.
  • All facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and emotional stability and have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of over one year.
  • Compliance with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct required.
  • All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle, at any time their property or vehicle is within any area under the control of the USDB or MWJRCF.
  • IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution (42 USC 1997).
  • This position requires the employee to undergo screening for tuberculosis upon appointment and periodic screening thereafter.
  • Employee is required to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program. This training emphasizes the responsibilities to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules.
  • The work requires contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
  • Contact with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilization of organizational policies (i.e. procedures, regulations), establishing and maintaining organizational records and/or files, and reviewing documents for accuracy in grammar and formatting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
