A Supervisory IT Specialist, will supervise the UNIX Branch and manage the Fiscal Service enterprise UNIX budget, contracts, and acquisition plans.

Duties

Help

As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will:

  • Manage activities throughout Fiscal Service relating to enterprise UNIX infrastructure(s) performance evaluation, technical assistance, and management.
  • Exercise delegated authority to oversee the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of a major program segment (Infrastructure as a Service - IT System Hosting).
  • Manage the activities necessary for maintaining or improving the reliability of the enterprise UNIX infrastructure(s), and for analyzing enterprise UNIX statistics to maximize system efficiency.
  • Communicate with personnel throughout Fiscal Service, in other government agencies, and with vendors and other persons in the private sector on job related matters.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-13 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes experience performing IT work that involves planning, leading, or developing assignments, and directing or leading administrative and technical IT projects and programs in order to support technologies, operations, applications, and activities within the Branch.

Examples of such experience for the GS 14 could include:
- Designing and/or performing projects/studies that conform with professional, or regulatory or quality, standards or requirements; OR
- Applying IT principles, concepts, methods, standards, and practices to provide sound guidance, technical advice and recommendations to management on information technology or security policies and procedures; OR
- Experience as a team lead or project manager; OR
- Experience with end user support, consultation, and working as a subject matter expert for end user products and services.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below.
- Attention to Detail, such as review legislation and regulatory and procedural changes for impact on existing infrastructure(s).
- Customer Service, such as providing around the clock technical support for all systems and services.
- Oral Communication, such as representing the Branch and/or the Division on IT program initiatives, committees, and study efforts.
- Problem Solving, such as manages continuing studies to test, modify, or improve existing hosted services.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
