Duties

Help
  • Keeps abreast major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the SSD Division and the Regional Office
  • Applies analytical and evaluative methods and techniques in order to plan, schedule, and analyze projects and recommend ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency of SSD operations.
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing with people, both clients and peers, from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Promote cooperation and relationships with all levels of management and supervision.
  • Serves as the liaison with GSA officials on acquisitions, maintenance, improvements, and release of space.
  • Skill in organizing information systems in order to convert data to information and analysis for decision making purposes.
  • Assists in coordinating building security with GSA building management, Federal Protective Services (FPS) security personnel, VA Police and / or other security personnel.
  • Ensures PIV cards are produced and issued to all permanent or temporary employees and contractors in accordance with PIV requirements
  • Executes control and preparation of internal reports, including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports by utilizing applicable computer programs.
  • Operates office automation equipment for the preparation of correspondence and reports, receiving and transmittal of electronic mail, and applications used.
  • Acts as liaison between Division Chief/1st Line Supervisor and other divisions' staff by providing guidance/assistance on procedures, and related matters for compliance.

Qualifications

Time-in-grade: Applicants who are/were federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09 level. To support your claim of time in grade, you must submit your most recent appointment, promotion, or within grade increase SF-50 (not an award or general adjustment SF-50). Some applicants may have to submit more than one SF-50 to demonstrate their eligibility. See the required documents section for more information.

Specialized Experience:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify, applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-09) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as: application of a wide range of budget and cost analysis using administrative laws, policies, regulations, and legal precedents to improve efficiency and provide analytical assistance to the organization and program oversights.

Applicants may SUBSTITUTE education for the experience required to qualify at the GS-11 level: a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or L.L.B. or J.D., if related.

Pandemic Telework Program: Due to COVID-19, VA is currently in an expanded telework posture. If selected, you may be expected to temporarily telework, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Once employees are permitted to return to the office, you will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement.
