Help
  • Counsels and negotiates with staff or fee appraiser on problems in their reports.
  • Personally inspects property and reviews comparable when appropriate.
  • Provides guidance in the preparation of appraisals by staff and/or contract appraisals involving a wide variety of improved and unimproved properties.
  • Personally appraises various types of real property, including highly developed commercial, industrial, agricultural, and special purpose property with complex characteristics.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
  • Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
  • Position requires certification as a state certified general appraiser.
  • This position requires 25% TDY (overnight travel 6 to 10 nights per month).
  • Employee must possess a valid state or Government driver's permit to operate motor vehicles in accomplishing assigned duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. The GS-12 grade level requires the incumbent to possess a certified General Real Estate Appraiser license. Incumbent must possess and maintain this licensing for the duration of employment with the agency. You MUST upload a copy of your license to your application package.

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have:

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes appraising various types of real property conducting appraisals of TWO or more of the following types of properties: agricultural, commercial, industrial, special purpose and residential properties in urban and rural locations., with complex characteristics; inspecting property and reviewing comparables; providing guidance in the preparation of appraisals by staff and/or contract appraisals involving a wide variety of improved and unimproved properties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

For this job at the GS-12 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
