Duties

Help

As a SUPPLY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, GS-2003-9, you will ensure supply activities comply with published guidance and policy and resolve supply processing problems affecting SCMS functions. You will perform work that is concerned with analyzing, evaluating and promoting improvements in the plans, methods, procedures, and techniques of supply systems analysis on supply program/operations.

This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Develop recommendations to resolve problems with effectiveness and efficiency of work operations.
  • Apply a variety of established techniques and methods to evaluate alternatives and arrive at decisions, conclusions or recommendations.
  • Ensure requirements follow established supply policies, practices, procedures, and techniques which may be varied for a number of locations and situations to assure compatibility with existing systems and demands on available resources.
  • Perform a variety of special projects related to the analysis of data in support of all weapon systems.
  • Analyze and resolve difficult issues and problems involving supply processes, systems, and operations.
  • Provide options and recommendations to allow for differing or conflicting program requirements.
  • Review finished products for adherence to objectives, quality control, soundness of conclusions drawn, and practicality of recommendations.
  • Identify products required for problem identification and tracking.
  • Review applicable publications, procedures, most recent analysis reports, and supplements to gain background information and familiarization in the area to be analyzed.
  • Develop charts, graphs, spreadsheets and other media to present trends and help determine necessary corrective actions.
  • Prepare, publish, and distribute analysis reports to affected sections, flights and organizations.
  • Track actions related to resolution of deficiencies identified in analysis reports.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • Position may be subject to shift work.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Enlisted Only - May not exceed the rank of SMSgt

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education, or training which has provided you with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field; Experience using computer and automation system.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level - MUST possess at least 24 months experience, education, or training dealing with cost estimates, budgets or funding management; Experience conducting extensive searches for required information; reconstruct records for complex supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
