As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0346-11, you will implement logistics policy programs and procedures, utilizing automated/non-automated systems for the accurate control of logistical planning in support of unit tasked contingency operations around the world.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Determine the type and number of aircraft required for mission deployment.
  • Assist the commander in determining the types and numbers or quantity of troops and equipment available for tasking.
  • Analyze and identify tasking for logistical shortfalls, Limiting Factors (LIMFACs) and problems.
  • Ensure all systems interface within Integrated Deployment System (IDS).
  • Design logistics packages to meet Operation Plans (OPLAN) tasking and coordinate with tasked units to ensure compliance and accuracy of systems.
  • Produce Computer Aided Load Manifesting (CALM) products for unit deployment exercises or operations.
  • Formulate and consolidate logistical annexes for IDS guidance, based on regulations, manuals, instructions and directives issues by higher headquarters.
  • Manage the Unit Deployment Control Center (UDCC) to ensure each deployment runs efficiently.
  • Ensure the unit meets all pre-execution and command and control requirements for deployments.
  • At the direction of, and in conjunction with, the commander, identify required deployment/redeployment support with the unit staff and host base for the transportation of equipment and personnel.
  • Review resource/logistics plans, programs and deployment activities with the commander to ensure authorized mobility equipment is available or on order, and ensure equipment is properly budgeted.
  • Maintain and analyze the correlation of data between the Unit Type Code (UTC), Unit Management Information System (UMIS), Designed Operational Capacity (DOC) statements and all applicable plans for the unit's readiness reporting and tasking.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.


Military Grades: Officer/Enlisted - May not exceed the rank of Lt Col.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field; and experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes 36 months experience which demonstrates the ability to identify activities involving logistical support operations; experience integrating the actions of a variety of specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive logistics plan; experience monitoring such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan; experience identifying delays or problems and developing corrective actions; and experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform specific tasks, and complying with regulations, laws, or practices.

In order to be considered qualified, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
