This position is located in the Wyoming Air National Guard (ANG), 153d Airlift Wing, 153d Operations Group, 243d Air Traffic Control (ATC) Squadron. The primary purpose of this position is: to provide tower, radar, and non-radar air traffic control (ATC) services to military and civilian aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), Special Visual Flight Rules (SVFR), or Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Provides terminal ATC services to aircraft operating from primary and/or secondary airports within delegated airspace. Manages and directs controller actions and functions in Tower and Radar facilities as the primary watch supervisor and/or senior controller.

Facility-rated in radar and tower in all assigned facilities and maintain proficiency. Must possess and submit valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate and/or Control Tower (CTO) Certificate(s).
Submit DD Form 2992, Medical Recommendation for Flying or Special Operational Duty (e.g., Civilian Class II Certification) or equivalent.
Submit ATC/Weather Certification and Rating Record (e.g., AF Form 3622 or equivalent), or FAA License of current ATC Certifications.
Meet and maintain on a continuing basis, the physical and mental qualification standards established by the USAF or ANG for Air Traffic Control duty.
Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies. May be assigned additional ATC related duties.
Ability to make rapid and precise judgments in real-time work situations, be able to remain calm under conditions that are stressful, and to coordinate at times many different processes at once, while adjusting rapidly to changes in the traffic pattern and tempo of work activities.
Meet and maintain on a continuing basis, the physical and mental qualification standards established by the FAA, USAF, and NGB for Air Traffic Control duty.
Subject to the special retirement provisions for Air Traffic Controllers under CSRS and FERS, 5 USC 3382, Involuntary Separation for Retirement; 5 USC 8335(a) and 8425(a), Mandatory Separation; 5 USC 8336(e) and 8412(e), Immediate Retirement; and 5 USC 8339(e) and 8415(d), Computation of Annuity.
Meets definition for premium pay stated in 5 USC 5546a(a)1. Meets US OPM definition for Special Rate Table Number 0565 (radar approach control duties); or Special Rate Table Number 0566 (non-radar approach control duties).
High school or general equivalent degree is mandatory. An undergraduate academic specialization in a technical discipline with courses in administration and management is desirable. Must be a graduate of a formal DoD/Department of Transportation (DOT) Basic Air Traffic Control course.
A GS-11 and higher Air Traffic Control Specialist is a graduate of a formal DoD/DOT basic air traffic control course and will obtain and maintain facility-ratings in dual ATC facilities (RFC/GCA/Radar Approach Control (RAPCON)/Control Tower). This level includes a variety of assignments and work situations in the terminals. A GS-11 is typically the first full performance level of control work in radar approach control terminals.
