Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

  • Establishes, organizes, and maintains files of correspondence, manuals, and other related information in accordance with IRS regulatory policies and guidance.
  • Reviews all incoming mail and correspondence to determine proper action; and, as appropriate, prepares written responses.
  • Maintains a wide variety of administrative records and controls. Prepares and maintains regular production/inventory reports using establish formats and sources of data applicable to the program.
  • Reviews outgoing correspondence, reports and other documents for proper format, grammar, punctuation, and mathematical correctness.
  • Types and reviews correspondence to ensure conformity with IRS policies, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. (Birth certificate showing birth in the U.S; Unexpired U.S. Passport; Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization; or Report of Birth Abroad of a U.S. Citizen (Form FS-240))
  • Undergo a review of prior performance/conduct and an income tax verification. Refer to "Get Your Tax Record" at http://www.irs.gov/(https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript) to check the status of your account, balance owed, payment history, make a payment, or review answers to tax questions. If you are not in compliance, you will be determined unsuitable for employment with IRS.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be unexpired original or certified copies.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-05: To qualify for this position at this grade level, you must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience include experience providing office administrative support functions such as preparing correspondence and greeting and directing visitors.

OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: A Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.

OR
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

GS-06: To qualify for this position at this grade level, you must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience include experience providing office administrative support functions such as preparing correspondence, greeting and directing visitors, and coordinating services between customers and providers for support services.

GS-07: To qualify for this position at this grade level, you must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience includes experience providing office administrative support functions such as preparing correspondence, greeting and directing visitors, managing a calendar, and coordinating services between customers and providers for support services.

AND

You must meet the following requirements: Candidates must meet the typing proficiency and office automation skills, as well as the experience and/or education required for this position. Applicants must be a qualified typist with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors). Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for three years. We may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.
