Summary

As a Supervisory Criminal Investigator at the GS-1811-15, you will be part of OIG Investigations Program (Headquarters Operations and Investigative Operations). If selected, you will be responsible for conducting investigations that identify and eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse and other forms of criminal, civil, administrative or improper activity from OPM programs.

Duties

Help
  • Ensure that the strategic plans, missions, visions and values are communicated to subordinate staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and regulatory interpretation of laws, orders, rules and regulations pertaining to the criminal investigative authority.
  • Represent the investigative region of official contacts with the Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Serve as authoritative expert in the field of criminal investigations regarding the on-going efforts to develop new approaches and methodologies.
  • Present investigative results both orally and in writing to senior management and Assistant U.S. Attorneys for determination of prosecutive merit.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: The date immediately preceding an individual's 37th birthday is the maximum entry age for original appointment to a position with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) as a law enforcement officer. PLEASE NOTE: a) This requirement does not apply to persons eligible for veterans preference; b) An individual who is 37 years of age or older may be re-employed as a Federal law enforcement officer in the OIG if the individual has had prior coverage under the special Federal law enforcement retirement plan; c) An SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, must be submitted which shows your current grade and competitive civil service status (if you have been or are a Federal employee). If you are 37 years of age or older and have been previously covered under the special law enforcement retirement plan, please submit an SF-50 which reflects this coverage in addition to your current SF-50.

For the GS 15: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level planning and performing the full range of investigation activities including interviewing witnesses, executing searches, and conducting surveillance; preparing comprehensive reports and analysis of the evidence, findings and conclusions of investigations; and representing in Congressional testimonies related to investigative reports.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-14 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS15 level.

DO NOT submit NON-Pay Impacting Action SF-50's to include "Org Cost Center Change SF-50's, Award SF-50's and/or General Adjustment SF-50's" ect. as they cannot be used to prove time-in-grade.
