This position is located in the Ordnance Assurance & Safety Office (OOSA).
You will be responsible for Occupational Safety and Health programs that are interrelated with other IHD technical and administrative programs.
You will monitor and evaluate the overall safety of hazardous chemicals and materials safety, occupational safety, industrial trades environmental, and workplace situations ensuring program effectiveness.
You will conduct surveys, periodic inspections and special studies of industrial operations, trade shop workplaces, and ordnance explosives production facilities
You will conduct surveys, periodic inspections and special studies of operations where toxic and flammable liquids, gases and chemical materials are used and produced.
You will determine environmental health risks, exposure levels and make technical recommendations of findings.
You will review facility drawings and specifications to plan for site surveys for environmental controls, illumination levels, particulates and other biological, chemical and/or physical agents? control.
You will evaluate personal protective equipment to determine compliance with regulations.
You will plan and coordinate individual assignments to meet project goals.
You will monitor and evaluate the overall safety and environmental health program.
You will recommend measures for the elimination or control of unsafe or hazardous conditions.
You will evaluate environmental health risks and make independent technical recommendations for their control.
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-3 pay band (GS-09/10 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing occupational health and safety program data in support of ordnance operations to measure effectiveness in meeting organizational goals and objectives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
The following education may be used to substitute specialized experience:
Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology

Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology

Successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled
-OR-
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
