Qualifications

GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Searching out new channels for procurement of library materials; 2) Assisting with identifying gaps in library general collection and/or materials needed to support the organizational mission; 3) Examining catalogs and lists of dealers to collect/acquire library source material; and 4) Helping group/team members accomplish their work to meet acquisitions and collections goals and objectives. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Selecting/deselecting print and electronic resources for the library's general collection; 2) Assisting with library acquisitions and collection management efforts according to rules and regulations; and 3) Coordinating and performing acquisitions and/or collections work in a library setting. 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in library science
or
a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is mostly sedentary and includes no special physical demands. It may involve some walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves everyday risks or discomforts typically associated with libraries, offices, meeting and
training rooms.

Applicants must possess:

A master's or equivalent graduate degree in library science or 2 full academic years of graduate study in library science leading to such a degree in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree.

or

At least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. Your education, training, and experience established knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
