Help

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform procurement of equipment and supplies requirements and maintenance of supply inventories of the Surgical HCG. Serves as a purchase card holder.
  • Identify appropriate source for procurements in accordance with purchase card policy.
  • Serve as Surgical HCG Fund Control Point (FCP) Clerk and identifies correct fund control points for transactions, performs regular reconciliations for assigned FCPs in accordance with financial policy.
  • Serve as an Invoice Payment Processing System (IPPS) Certifying Official.
  • Review vendor invoices for completeness and accuracy prior to certifying payment.
  • Maintain records of all payments certified in IPPS.
  • Create and maintain databases of HCG staff related to compliance of mandatory education, licensure, and certificate renewals and creating new databases or methods for maintaining accurate records.
  • Perform the duties of timekeeper for various staff within the HCG including complex Title 38 and Title 38 Hybrid timecards and serves as alternate timekeeper for other timekeepers within the Surgical HCG and assists in training lower-level timekeepers.
  • Serve as liaison for the HCG staff and Information Technology (IT).
  • Identify computer access and software needs of the Surgical staff. Troubleshoots IT access issues and works with IT to gain or restore access for Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), and Vista software.
  • Assist in identifying needs and maintaining records for compliance with external review and accrediting bodies, as well as assisting in preparation for Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and The Joint Commission (TJC) inspections.
  • Serve as TMS Administrator, PIV Sponsor, and other support duties for Surgical HCG staff as necessary.
  • Complete data entry duties for purposes of assisting the HCG in tracking performance measures such as wait times and missed opportunities.
  • Compile and process data and performs basic analysis, reconciliation, and editing of statistical data as directed by the HCG Management.
  • Create and design report formats and database structures for new dashboard development, prepares data for reports and presentations using PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other software applications.
  • Prepare reports used for provider evaluations or ratings by HCG management to determine action plans for the Medical Center Including addition or deletion of programs offered, training requirements, or changes in resource management.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/14/2022.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

GS-5

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: perform administrative duties i.e. procurement of equipment and supply requirements and/or maintenance of supply inventory. OR,
  • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above High School Education.
  • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education. For GS-5 level positions, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
GS-6
  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: perform administrative duties i.e. procurement of equipment and supply requirements and/or maintenance of supply inventory. OR,
  • Education: No educational substitution at the GS-6 grade level.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: No specific physical qualifications are needed. Work requires some walking, bending, and carrying light items such as folders or office files.
