Duties

Help

As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will:

  • Assist with the development of CA's long- and short-range work plans and objectives to support the statutory mandates and goals, as well as the mission, objectives, and strategic plans of CE and CFPB.
  • Stay abreast of laws, regulations, and policies internal and external to CFPB to assess relevancy, impact on CA education programs directed at economically vulnerable consumers and with special focus on formerly incarcerated individuals.
  • Advise the CA team on current or evolving topics and events related to consumer financial issues, services, products, and markets affecting economically vulnerable populations including formerly incarcerated individuals. Some of these issues may be sensitive and highly visible.
  • Maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders (Federal, State, and local government and non-profits organizations) to monitor developments and emerging issues in the consumer financial protection arena, identify barriers to opportunities for low-income and other economically vulnerable populations, assess the impact on the development and implementation of policy proposals, and coordinate government-wide responses to topics of mutual interest.

The Bureau is currently offering expanded telework opportunities to all staff. Additional work location and schedule flexibilities will be available to Bureau staff starting in the fall of 2022.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience for CN-60: To qualify at CN-60, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower band/grade (CN-53, GS-13 or equivalent) in the Federal service. For this position specialized experience is defined as:

- Providing advice to leadership on existing policy and programs or projects to ensure that they align with the organization's responsibilities and statutory deliverables, and are consistent with the organization's policies; AND
- Advising a team on financial issues and circumstances affecting economically vulnerable populations such as formerly incarcerated individuals; AND
- Producing written memos, briefing documents and reports on topics affecting economically vulnerable populations such as formerly incarcerated individuals and/or their families; AND
- Serving or leading special projects, programs, task forces, or cross-divisional working groups that identify and address operational or policy issues, including a special focus on formerly incarcerated individuals.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
