Summary
This position will serve as a scientist using public health data to inform decision support on public health issues. Current or former federal employees who have federal civil service status as a result of competitive or other means provided in law or government-wide regulations (VEOA, VRA, Schedule A, etc.).
Design, oversee, implement, and conduct major scientific surveys/studies that translate forecasting and analytical data into actionable public health information.
Search, synthesize, and interpret the needs of policy makers during public health emergencies for disease modelers and analysts.
Collaborate with subject matter experts with CFA, across CDC, other federal agencies, and state and local health officials to develop products that communicate analytic and modeling results.
Provide technical advice and assistance on the interpretation of disease models, forecasts, and outbreak analytics.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level of difficulty and responsibility in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience conducting scientific studies using public health data, disease models, and related analytics for the purposes developing science-based communication for public health issues.
