Summary

The incumbent serves as the Records Management Officer (RMO) for the United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Eastern District NY and in this regard provides analytical and program management work to insure all USAO records and information, in all media including paper, CD, DVD, tapes, and voice mail, are created, maintained, archived, and disposed of in accordance with federal and Departmental guidelines.

Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Records and Information Management Specialist, you will:

  • Be responsible for supervising overall operations of the Records Unit
  • Oversee the identification, arrangement, screening and description of all District records sent to the Federal Records Center
  • Apply public laws and directives relating to the transfer, security, maintenance, and disposal of District records
  • Develop District-wide standard operating procedures for records management
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:

To be qualified at the GS-11, you must possess:

Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: developing recommendations for a wide range of information and records management programs, projects, and initiatives; developing data collection procedures using practical knowledge of database systems, structures, and designs; and maintaining information about records movement and storage, destruction, transfer, or other disposition.

OR

Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

OR

Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Combination of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. To qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of two full years.

Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the Department of Justice requires each and every employee to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully complete a background investigation for a clearance as a condition of placement in this Special-Sensitive (SS)/High Risk position. This review includes financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.
