Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the next lower grade level.

Please note that some job series have additional basic qualification requirements (please see the education section).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must meet the following educational requirements for the Economist position:

A. A degree in economics that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. (PLEASE UPLOAD TRANSCRIPTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION)

B. A combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (PLEASE UPLOAD TRANSCRIPTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION)
Examples of qualifying experience include: individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation; OR supervisory or project coordination of assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; OR teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following: (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.

Education Requirement: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements, all candidates must meet the following educational and/or experience requirements for the Social Science Research Analyst position:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (PLEASE UPLOAD TRANSCRIPTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION)

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (PLEASE UPLOAD TRANSCRIPTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION)

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

This is a remote position; however, the Office/position reports to a CMS Office on a periodic basis (1-2 times per year). Requirements to report to the office will vary and can be discussed at the time of interview.

Your worksite must be within the United States and you must adhere to all regulations and policies regarding remote work at CMS and in the federal government, including the signing of a remote work agreement.
