About the Position: Serves as a calibration specialist in the parameters of electrical, electronic, microwave, nucleonic, optical/laser, physical, etc., applicable to the calibration, certification and evaluation of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.

Duties

Help
  • Prepares test and certification reports for customer use, providing specific information such as assigned values, corrections, and uncertainties, over a specified range of circumstances for instruments being calibrated.
  • Interface with user and manufacturer of test equipment as necessary to clarify questionable areas concerning the use and accuracy of instruments or nonstandard TMDE.
  • Assists and advises users in the instrument application, measurement accuracy, and recommended calibration requirements for TMDE in support of their mission.
  • Implements, adapts, modifies and periodically develops technical procedures required by the changing user or equipment requirements.
  • Serves, as the workload dictates, as a specialist in the physical/dimensional measurement areas including radial.
  • Prepares reports to correct errors in existing procedures and provides technical information used in the decision making process for the development of documents used for TMDE certification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Ability to do the work of a Precision Measurement Equipment Calibrator~ without more than normal supervision: applying troubleshooting procedures and practices to repair test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment. Use of calibration standards and automated workstations to calibrate test instruments such as multi-meters, signal generators, and oscilloscopes under the close supervision of a work leader or journey level Precision Measurement Calibrator who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Trouble Shooting
  • The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending during the course of extended periods on measurements. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.

  • The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
