Duties

Help

  • Responsible for the development, continuous evaluation and refinement of a cohesive, forward-looking strategy for online, new media, social media and various digital technology platforms in support of the museum’s mission, external communications, programs and operations.
  • Responsible for strategically integrating traditional and digital communications to establish a dynamic, forward-thinking public profile for the museum to address stakeholders and constituents of all types, including the media and local and national communities.

  • Responsible for digital infrastructure integration. Works collaboratively with Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) to assess the SAWHM’s web infrastructure, evaluates alternatives as needed and works to ensure that the SAWHM, its offices and staff have appropriately robust technology and support to undertake the SAWHM digital programs and projects.

  • Strategically develops and analyzes visitor profiles and patterns, prioritizes target audiences with museum leadership, identifies potential new audiences and determines most appropriate way to reach them. Determine future trends, ensure effective use of resources and maximize impact through integrated digital information systems.

  • Responsible for the office budget, including review and cost benefit analysis of all digital programs. Determines program resources needed to achieve SAWHM digital priorities. Prepares an annual budget, provides needed justification and submits budget for approval.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system.  For this position Specialized experience is defined as creating, developing, and evaluating the digital strategy with qualitative and quantitative data for an organization or corporation that is mission-driven; working with stakeholders and senior level staff across disciplines to build consensus for a digital strategy and execution plan; create project plans, timelines, budgets, and funding cases for digital programs; managing teams to deliver on digital strategy across multiple platforms with a positive team culture; and advising senior level management on software, staffing, and workplans in the execution of a digital strategy.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.

  • Ability to lead the development, continuous evaluation and refinement of a cohesive, forward-looking digital strategy for online, new media, social media and various digital technology platforms in support of the museum’s mission, external communications, programs and operations.

  • Ability to strategically integrate traditional and digital communications to establish a dynamic, forward-thinking public profile for the museum to address stakeholders and constituents of all types, including the media and local and national communities.

  • Knowledge of gender-inclusive technology, universal design, educational or cultural heritage institutions, and/or gender studies. Skill in developing and producing digital content aligned with the values and approaches of these disciplines.

  • Ability to manage digital infrastructure integration, working effectively and collaboratively with technical staff to assess web infrastructure, evaluate alternatives as needed and works to ensure that the organization, its offices and staff have appropriately robust technology and support to undertake the organization’s digital programs and projects.

  • Ability to strategically develop and analyze visitor profiles and patterns, prioritizes target audiences with museum leadership, identify potential new audiences and determines most appropriate way to reach them in order to determine future trends, ensure effective use of resources and maximize impact through integrated digital information systems.
  • Ability to manage budget for digital program, including review and cost benefit analysis of all digital programs and determining program resources needed to achieve digital priorities and prepare an annual budget with justification

Applicants who meet or exceed minimum qualifications will be assigned to one of three category groups based on job-related criteria:

  • Best Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most of the job related competencies above.
  • Better Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and satisfies most of the job related competencies above.
  • Good Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but does not satisfy most of the job related competencies above to a substantive degree.

This category rating process does not add veterans' preference points or apply the "rule of three", but protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-preference eligibles within each category. A selecting official may make selections from the highest quality category (Best Category) provided no preference eligible in that category is passed over to select a non-preference eligible in that category unless the requirements of 5 U.S.C. 3317(b) or 3318(b) are satisfied. Preference eligibles who meet minimum qualification requirements and who have a compensable service-connected disability of at least 10 percent must be listed in the highest quality category, except when the position being filled is scientific or professional at the GS-9 grade level or higher.
