Provides scientific advice to the agency, trading partners, other agencies, and the industry in one or more of the following agricultural trade areas: pesticides, contaminants, toxicology, plant health and food safety.
Performs a variety of complex scientific and professional work requiring expertise in the methods of scientific research and analysis. Develops the deadlines, projects, and workplans for evaluating developments in the assigned field.
Contributes to the development of U.S. policies and strategies related to agricultural sanitary and phytosanitary and technical barriers to trade and the integration of scientific contributions, addressing scientific versus policy objectives.
Develops responses to other U.S. agencies, as well as non-government stakeholders and related organizations, in the resolution of extensive and highly visible SPS and TBT agricultural trade questions and problems.
Represents the agency as a technical expert in the assigned field of scientific study at conferences, meetings, and with international standard setting bodies and other government agencies.
Analyzes relevant information from scientific and academic papers and applies information to discuss and improve programmatic study and analyses in support of agricultural trade issues.

Experience modifying or adapting established scientific protocols and procedures in response to test or study findings.'
