  • Pathways Internship positions provide for development and training. Assignments become more responsible as incumbent increases knowledge and skills through work experience and academic training. You will be expected to:
  • Conduct clerical duties that support efficient office operations.
  • Apply typing skills and knowledge of limited range of functions and procedures used in office automation software to perform duties although duties do not require a qualified typist
  • Follow up on suspense and update suspense files to ensure that required actions and responses are made within deadlines.
  • Produce records or documents using defined criteria and/or displays data in standardized format.
  • Create copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print a variety of standardized correspondence, reports, and documents.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • For this internship, you must be able to work part-time up to 32 hours weekly over the summer break.
  • Must remain enrolled and will be required to provide proof of current student status to be eligible for this program.
  • Must sign a Participant Agreement that sets forth the expectations for the Internship.
  • Must reside in the local commuting area. The local commuting area includes any population center and the surrounding localities where people live and routinely travel back and forth daily to their jobs.
  • Must be a current student that has been accepted for enrollment or is enrolled at least half-time in an accredited high school, college, professional, technical, vocational, or trade school pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Students who are eligible for participation in the Department of the Army Internship Program
Positions are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.

This intern position is designed to prepare a student trainee for employment in the administrative and office support field. Interns will be assigned tasks designed to increase familiarity with the target occupation in a real world work environment.

To qualify for a Pathways Internship as a GS-02, students must be currently enrolled in high school or a post-high school educational institution or have completed high school or a GED diploma and be enrolled at a post-high school educational institution. Copy of enrollment is required.

Selective Placement Factor: Must be 18 years of age on or before 6-JUN-2022.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

  • Clerical
  • Computer Literacy
  • Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)
